HC Deb 28 February 1938 vol 332 cc719-20
2. Mr. Day

asked the Under-Secretary of State for India whether he can give particulars of the success of the scheme that was instituted for the training of Indian boys on the training ship "Dufferin," stationed at Bombay; and whether it is proposed to establish similar training ships in other parts of India?

Earl Winterton

I am sending the hon. Member certain information regarding the scheme, which has been a success. I am not aware of any proposal to establish a similar training ship elsewhere in India.

Mr. Day

Is it a fact that the Federated Union of Chambers of Commerce made this suggestion?

Earl Winterton

They may have done so, but I am not aware that there has been a proposal to establish a similar training ship elsewhere in India.
