HC Deb 28 February 1938 vol 332 cc732-3
24. Mr. De la Bère

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether he is now in a position to announce some comprehensive plan for dealing with an increase of homegrown foodstuffs in this country?

Mr. W. S. Morrison

The range and variety of measures that have been taken in recent years to improve the position of agriculture constitute, when viewed as a whole, a programme that can fairly be described as comprehensive. It is the Government's intention to continue their efforts to increase agricultural prosperity and efficiency and the productivity of our land and stock by means which are consistent with the true economic interests of the industry.

Mr. De la Bère

Are we ever to have a long-term policy for agriculture?
