HC Deb 21 February 1938 vol 332 c24
52. Mr. T. Williams

asked the Minister of Agriculture what is the estimated total grants from the Treasury for the financial year ending 31st March, 1938, for arterial and field drainage?

Mr. Morrison

The provision made for grants towards the cost of schemes of arterial drainage in the Vote for the expenses of my Department for the current year is £265,000. No provision is made in this Vote for field drainage. It is estimated by the Commissioner for the Special Areas (England and Wales) that grants will also be made from the Special Areas Fund up to £1,500 for arterial drainage schemes during the year. No grants fall to be made from that fund during the year for field drainage schemes, although the Commissioner has incurred certain commitments under that head.
