HC Deb 03 February 1938 vol 331 c374
54. Mr. Rhys Davies

asked the Home Secretary whether any progress is being made under the provisions of the Factory Act, 1937, towards the abolition of shuttle-kissing in textile factories?

Sir S. Hoare

I arranged for a conference with employers and operatives to discuss this matter, and am informed that, at a meeting in December, it was unanimously agreed to set up a committee with six representatives of each and a representative of the Cotton Industry Research Association, under the chairmanship of the Superintending Inspector of Factories. I hope that in this way some agreement will be arrived at on which further action can be based.
