§ 54. Mr. Rhys Daviesasked the Home Secretary whether any progress is being made under the provisions of the Factory Act, 1937, towards the abolition of shuttle-kissing in textile factories?
§ Sir S. HoareI arranged for a conference with employers and operatives to discuss this matter, and am informed that, at a meeting in December, it was unanimously agreed to set up a committee with six representatives of each and a representative of the Cotton Industry Research Association, under the chairmanship of the Superintending Inspector of Factories. I hope that in this way some agreement will be arrived at on which further action can be based.
