HC Deb 14 December 1938 vol 342 c1974
31. Captain Ramsay

asked the Prime Minister whether His Majesty's Government accept the authenticity of the English translation of the McMahon correspondence regarding Palestine; and, if there is any doubt as to its implications, whether they will submit it to the Hague Tribunal to determine the meaning and validity?

Mr. Butler

I am not aware what English translation my hon. and gallant Friend has in mind. Translations of the important passages in the correspondence were, however, published in the report of the Palestine Royal Commission in 1937, and I understand that the passages quoted may be regarded as adequate translations of the originals. The reply to the second part of the question is in the negative.
