HC Deb 14 December 1938 vol 342 cc1976-7
63. Mr. T. Smith

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies how he proposes to secure representative Palestinian Arab delegates for the forthcoming discussions in London; and which organisation or organisations will be asked to make nominations?

Mr. M. MacDonald

I am not yet in a position to add anything to what I said in reply to questions on the subject on 7th December.

Mr. Pilkington

Can my right hon. Friend say on what date it is expected that the conference will be held?

Mr. MacDonald

I shall not be able to say until we know when the Palestinian delegation has been appointed and will be able to arrive. Apart from that, all the arrangements are ready.

64. Mr. T. Smith

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether it is the intention of the Government to consult with Arab trade unionist organisations or representative bodies of Arab fellaheen in Palestine for the purpose of securing equitable representation at the forthcoming discussions in London?

Mr. MacDonald

I am informed that there are no Arab trade unionist organisations or representative bodies of Arab fellaheen who could be consulted.
