HC Deb 14 December 1938 vol 342 c1978
43. Colonel Sir Charles MacAndrew

asked the Secretary of State for Air whether he is satisfied that the existing landing ground for aeroplanes at Freetown, Sierra Leone, is suitable for large aeroplanes?

Sir K. Wood

The existing landing ground at Freetown, Sierra Leone, was prepared some years ago for occasional use by the Royal Air Force and is not now suitable for use by large modern aircraft. The question of providing at Freetown an aerodrome more suitable for modern requirements is now under consideration.
