HC Deb 12 December 1938 vol 342 cc1588-9
33. Mr. G. Strauss

asked the Prime Minister whether the question of the Italian aerodromes in Majorca will be among the points to be discussed with the Italian Government in accordance with Annex 2 of the British-Italian Agreement, which arranges for the exchange of military information?

Mr. Butler

No, Sir. As I stated in reply to the hon. Member for Maryhill (Mr. Davidson) on 21st November last, the provisions of Annex 2 do not cover Majorca.

Mr. Strauss

Is the Minister aware that the Annex specially provides for the exchange of information supplementary to the information in respect of the territories specially designated in the Annex should the political circumstances of the moment make it desirable? Surely the political circumstances of the moment make it most desirable.

Mr. Butler

If the hon. Member will refer to the Annex, he will see that it provides for the exchange of information in regard to certain territories. Majorca is not Italian territory.

Mr. Strauss

That is not so.
