HC Deb 05 December 1938 vol 342 c867
55. Mr. R. Gibson

asked the Postmaster-General whether he is aware that Renfrewshire has 94 schools and only nine of these are equipped with Post Office telephones, whereas the county of Angus has 103 schools of which 25 have Post Office telephones, and Edinburgh has 114 schools of which 104 are provided with Post Office telephones; and what steps he proposes to take to bring to the notice of the education committee of the Renfrewshire County Council the advantages of schools being equipped with telephones?

The Postmaster-General (Major Tryon)

I am aware of the position, and I understand that canvassing efforts have been made for some time, in the course of which the Renfrewshire County Council has been fully informed of the advantages of the telephone service in schools?
