HC Deb 27 April 1938 vol 335 c123
37. Mr. A. Edwards (for Mr. Mathers)

asked the Minister for the Co-ordination of Defence whether he is now in a position to make a statement of the Government attitude towards the Falmouth Committee Report on oil from coal, especially that section of the report relating to the Scottish shale-oil industry?

The Minister for the Co-ordination of Defence (Sir Thomas Inskip)

I am not yet in a position to add anything to my reply to my hon. Friend the Member for Dudley (Mr. Joel) on 13th April. A statement will be made as soon as possible.

Mr. Edwards

What financial assistance are the Government prepared to give to any private company which puts down plant?

Sir T. Inskip

That is another question. A statement will be made as soon as possible, and I hope in a very short time.
