22. Vice-Admiral Taylor

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty what is the proportion of married officers of the rank of lieutenant-commander, commander, and captain, to the total number of officers of those ranks over the age of 30 years?

Mr. Cooper

The percentages of married officers of the ranks of lieutenant-commander, commander and captain to the total number of officers of those ranks over the age of 30 years, are approximately 73, 85, and 85 respectively.

Vice-Admiral Taylor

Is not the unmarried officer helping to keep the married officer, in addition to having to pay his marriage allowance?
