HC Deb 21 October 1937 vol 327 c15
30. Captain Plugge

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether, as a result of the further representations made to him by the Civil Service staffs affected, he is now able to reconsider his decision refusing an inquiry into the request to reckon the temporary service of civil servants for superannuation purposes?

Sir J. Simon

I have carefully considered the further representations made to me by the associations concerned in regard to their claim for a Committee of Inquiry in connection with the establishment, and the reckoning of unestablished service for pension, of ex-service men who originally entered Government employment as temporary clerks. I see no ground for modifying the decision contained in my reply to the question by the hon. Member for Ince (Mr. G. Macdonald) on 27th July, and I have so informed the associations.
