§ 86. Mr. Manderasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he has any statement to make with regard to the present situation in Danzig?
§ Mr. EdenThe Committee of Three (France, Sweden and the United Kingdom) appointed by the Council to follow the situation in Danzig met in September and received a preliminary report from the High Commissioner in person on the conditions in which he is called upon to carry out his functions. The Committee published a communique in which it expressed its satisfaction at the manner in which Monsieur Burckhardt had discharged his task and stated that the High Commissioner had returned to resume his duties. The hon. Member will realise that I cannot add anything to a considered communique of this nature.
§ Mr. ManderCan the right hon. Gentleman say whether the Council were satisfied on that report with the situation in Danzig?
§ Mr. EdenThis was a carefully considered communiqué by the Members of the Committee of Three, and I am confident that in the interests of all concerned I should not add to it.
