HC Deb 01 November 1937 vol 328 cc519-20
21. Lieut.-Commander Fletcher

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he has received any representations from the Egyptian Government regarding the Italian reinforcements in Libya?

Mr. Eden

I have received no official representations. But questions affecting the defence and security of Egypt naturally form the subject of continuing consultations between His Majesty's Government in the United Kingdom and the Government of Egypt under the Treaty of Alliance concluded between them.

Lieut.-Commander Fletcher

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware of any change in the international situation which has rendered these very large reinforcements in Libya necessary?

Mr. Eden

No, Sir, I am not.
