HC Deb 31 May 1937 vol 324 cc677-8
64. Mr. Parker

asked the Minister of Transport what steps the Government propose to take to institute an impartial inquiry into the finances of the London Passenger Transport Board to see whether the Board is in a position to grant a 7½-hour day to the omnibus men?

Dr. Burgin

I have nothing to add to the answer given to the hon. Member on 27th May.

Mr. Shinwell

As the question of the finances of the London Transport Board entered very largely into the recent dispute, is it not desirable to conduct some investigation, so that the public may be apprised of the fact?

Dr. Burģin

The answer which was given to the hon. Member on Thursday of last week could hardly be taken any further on Monday of this week.
