HC Deb 31 May 1937 vol 324 c673
54. Mr. Thorne

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he can now give the House any information in connection with the death of Guardsman Alexander Montgomery, at Pirbright rifle range, on 13th April?

Sir V. Warrender

My inquiries into this case will be completed very shortly when, as already promised, my right hon. Friend will communicate with the hon. Member.

Mr. Thorne

How is it that this question has been delayed for so long? Surely the Department should have the information desired?

Sir V. Warrender

It was a very regrettable accident and the circumstances were somewhat complicated, and I do not think that there has been any undue delay in the matter.
