§ 29. Mr. Tinkerasked the Minister of Transport what progress has been made with the lighting of the new East Lancashire road from Liverpool to Manchester; and when the whole length will be completed?
§ The Minister of Transport (Mr. Hore-Belisha)There is lighting at the nine principal junctions and the portions in Liverpool and Swinton and Pendlebury are lit. I cannot say when lighting will be provided on the rest of the road.
§ Mr. TinkerWill the right hon. Gentleman use his influence to try to get this work completed before winter time, because that would be the means of preventing a good number of accidents?
§ Mr. Hore-BelishaI am aware of the hon. Member's continuous interest in this matter, but, as he knows, before I can do anything I must await the report of the Departmental Committee on lighting which I have set up.
