HC Deb 25 May 1937 vol 324 cc103-4
22. Mr. De Ia Bère

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether he is now in a position to state what reductions in the levies imposed on the producer-retailers of milk are to be made?

Mr. Ramsbotham

My right hon. Friend has now received and has under consideration the report of the Commissioner who held the public inquiry into the objections made to the draft amendments of the Milk Marketing Scheme, some of which concern the payment of producer-retailer contributions. I can assure my hon. Friend that the matter will be dealt with without any avoidable delay.

Mr. De la Bere

Can the Minister inform the House whether it will be possible in the long-term policy of the Government, which is overdue, to bear this matter in mind, and is he aware of what is happening in Norfolk?

Mr. Anstruther-Gray

Is it not a fact that the questions of the hon. Member for Evesham (Mr. De la Bere) are making a joke of a very serious subject?
