HC Deb 23 March 1937 vol 321 cc2757-8
67 and 68. Mr. Whiteley (for Mr. Kelly)

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Air (1) whether the order for compulsory purchase has been confirmed by which the Darlington Corporation is to acquire for purposes of an aerodrome 370 acres on the south side of Yarn Road and east of Lingfield Lane; and what price has been fixed for this land;

(2) whether the order for compulsory purchase has been confirmed by which the Nottingham Corporation is to acquire approximately 166 acres at Tollerton for the purposes of an aerodrome; and what price has been fixed for this land?

The Under-Secretary of State for Air (Sir Philip Sassoon)

In the case of both questions the answer to the first part is in the negative, the requisite procedure prior to confirmation not being yet completed, and to the second part that the prices will fall to be settled, if necessary by arbitration, after the compulsory purchase orders have been confirmed.
