asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he will inquire into the lack of small houses suitable for single teachers in the county of Argyll and the regulations against letting small houses to single women in many parts of the county which prevent female teachers from having a home of their own; and will he take steps to have these regulations modified so far as affecting the teaching profession?

I am informed that in the county of Argyll there is no lack of small houses suitable for teachers and that the county council have no regulations preventing the letting of small houses to single women.
