HC Deb 08 March 1937 vol 321 c796
65. Mr. Tinker

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury whether he is aware that there are widows with children with no other means besides the widows' pension and allowances who would welcome a grant to commemorate Coronation Day; and will he consider this?

The Financial Secretary to the Treasury (Lieut.-Colonel Colville)

I would refer the hon. Member to the answer given by my right hon. Friend on r9th January last to the hon. Member for North Tottenham (Mr. R. C. Morrison).

Mr. Tinker

Does that mean to say that nothing can be granted?

Lieut.-Colonel Colville

If the hon. Member will look at the answer he will see that my right hon. Friend intimated that the Government could not see their way to promote the necessary legislation.
