HC Deb 08 March 1937 vol 321 cc796-7
45. Lieut.-Commander Fletcher

asked the Prime Minister whether he intends to appoint a Royal Commission to inquire into the subject of the location of industry?

The Prime Minister (Mr. Baldwin)

Perhaps the hon. and gallant Member will await the statement which will be made on behalf of the Government in the course of the Debate upon the Special Areas (Money) Resolution.

Lieut.-Commander Fletcher

If it is the intention to appoint a Royal Commission, in view of the long delay that would elapse before the report could be acted upon, would it not be better to appoint an ad hoc body to get to work at once under the Minister for the Co-ordination of Defence?

The Prime Minister

Perhaps the hon. and gallant Gentleman will await the statement.
