HC Deb 04 March 1937 vol 321 c516
12. Mr. Day

asked the Minister of Labour what, if any, steps he proposes to take in the near future for the purpose of reducing the hours of labour of domestic servants, and making this service a regulated industry with some protection as to hours of service and reasonable periods of leisure?

Mr. E. Brown

I have no proposals of this kind in contemplation.

Mr. Day

Will the right hon. Gentleman consider ex tending the same protection to these workers as is given to those employed in shops?

Mr. Brown

I have no proposals of that kind in my mind at the moment.
