HC Deb 21 June 1937 vol 325 c811
1. Captain Macnamara

asked the Under-Secretary of State for India whether the ration allowance for soldiers in India has now been raised; and whether he can now definitely assure the House that British soldiers in India are able to feed, and their meals to include suppers, without any expense to themselves?

The Under-Secretary of State for India (Lord Stanley)

It has been decided to increase the messing allowance from 3½ to 4½ annas a day. It is believed that, given time to judge the results, they will fulfil the hopes expressed by my hon. and gallant Friend.
