HC Deb 14 June 1937 vol 325 cc13-4
25. Lieut.-Colonel Heneage

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether he has received any complaints that the Warble Fly (Dressing of Cattle) Order, 1936, is not carried out; and whether any steps are being taken to make the Order effective?

Mr. W. S. Morrison

I have received a few complaints in general terms as to the operation of the Warble Fly (Dressing of Cattle) Order, 1936, but I have no definite information that the Order is not being generally observed in any specific areas. Before the beginning of the dressing season on 15th March this year I drew the attention of all local authorities concerned to the provisions of the Order. The attention of cattle owners also was drawn to the necessity for complying with the Order, by means of articles in the Press and by broadcast notices. I understand that there have been a number of prosecutions for failure to comply with the Order.
