HC Deb 08 June 1937 vol 324 cc1566-7
21. Mr. Shinwell

asked the Secretary for Mines whether his attention has been directed to the use of coal and coke fuel on motor-transport; and whether, in view of the success achieved, it is intended to encourage its further use?

Captain Crookshank

Yes, Sir, and in this connection I would refer the hon. Member to the reply given by my right hon. Friend the Minister for the Coordination of Defence on 24th March last to my hon. and gallant Friend the Member for Thornbury (Captain Gunston) of which I am sending him a copy.

Captain Gunston

Did my hon. and gallant Friend attend the demonstration which was given the other day in Palace Yard?

Captain Crookshank

I am surprised that my hon. and gallant Friend did not see me there.
