HC Deb 08 June 1937 vol 324 cc1559-60
9. Lieut. - Colonel Moore-Brabazon

asked the Secretary of State for War whether his attention has been drawn to the congestion of traffic in the West End of London, brought about by a rehearsal of the ceremony of Trooping the Colour on 3rd June; and whether, in future rehearsals of ceremonial military proceedings, he will see that this takes place at such time as not to inconvenience the public, such as was done in rehearsing the Coronation procession?

Mr. Hore-Belisha

On the day in question the following routes only were closed to vehicular traffic between 8.30 and about 11 o'clock:—Constitution Hill, The Mall, the Horse Guards Approach Road, and Marlborough Yard. The reasons for holding the rehearsal during those hours are the necessity of bringing certain troops from Windsor, and also the desire of the general public to see the rehearsal.
