HC Deb 07 June 1937 vol 324 cc1418-9
51. Major Procter

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether his attention has been called to accidents to crowd artists in British film studios for which no compensation has been paid; and, in view of the probable expansion of the British film industry, whether he will inquire into this matter to find out whether better protection can be given to these workers in respect of health, welfare, safety, and compensation for injuries?

The Under-Secretary of State for the Home Department (Mr. Geoffrey Lloyd)

My right hon. Friend will be glad to look into the matter, but perhaps in the first instance my hon. and gallant Friend will be good enough to forward fuller particulars of the information in his possession regarding the subjects mentioned in his question.

Major Procter

Will the right hon. Gentleman receive a deputation, in order that we may lay the facts before the responsible authorities?

Mr. Lloyd

I think that might be a matter of arrangement between us, but in the first instance it would be convenient to have the information.
