HC Deb 07 June 1937 vol 324 c1396
2. Mr. Sorensen

asked the Under-Secretary of State for India whether the Viceroy has received any report through the Government political representative concerning a serious riot in Alwar?

Sir A. Lambert Ward

Yes, Sir. According to the report the riot, which occurred at the village of Behror on 21st April, was the result of communal tension between the local Moslems and Hindus. The State police were compelled to fire after the mob had got out of hand. Fifteen persons were killed and 46 injured.

Mr. Sorensen

Can the hon. and gallant Member acquaint the House with the position? Can he say whether any further action is contemplated regarding this unfortunate and mysterious occurrence?

Sir A. Lambert Ward

Perhaps the hon. Member will communicate with my Noble Friend.
