HC Deb 21 July 1937 vol 326 c2198
46. Miss Rathbone

asked the Prime Minister whether he will consider recommending that, in view of the danger of the international situation, Parliament should be kept in session throughout the summer or, at least, recalled in September, arrangements being made for Ministers and others to be relieved from their parliamentary duties in rotation?

The Prime Minister

No, Sir, but the Motion for the Summer Adjournment will contain the usual provision to enable the House to be called together at an earlier date during the Recess if the public interest so requires.

Mr. H. G. Williams

Will it not be advantageous to have a cessation of the number of injudicious questions on international subjects?

Miss Rathbone

Would it not suit the Government supporters still better if Parliament adjourned indefinitely?

Vice-Admiral Taylor

May I ask whether there is any reason why the hon. Lady should not take her seat daily in the Chamber while the House is not in Session?
