HC Deb 12 July 1937 vol 326 c862
45. Mr. Day

asked the Prime Minister whether, in view of the increasing improvement of aircraft and the danger to the food communications of Great Britain in time of war, he will consider the appointment of a further committee to examine the possibilities and advantages of building a Channel tunnel between Great Britain and the Continent?

The Prime Minister (Mr. Chamberlain)

I have nothing to add to the reply given to a similar question by he hon. Member for Shoreditch (Mr. Thurtle) on 15th March last.

Mr. Day

Are we to understand from that, that the Government are not prepared to reconsider the question?

The Prime Minister

Yes, I think that would be a not unreasonable assumption.
