§ 2. Mr. Sorensen
asked the Under-Secretary of State for India how many proceedings have been taken recently against members of the All-India Congress Committee, and the nature of their alleged offences?
I regret that I can make no inquiries. Any such proceedings would 3 be taken at the discretion of the Provincial Governments, and therefore, in view of the Prime Minister's statement, I cannot undertake to make inquiries.
§ Mr. Sorensen
Are we to take it that we shall never get any information with regard to proceedings against members of the All-India Congress Committee?
Not in cases where it is a provincial matter, where authority has been given to the Provincial Governments.
