Mr. Viantasked the Postmaster-General whether he has seen the report of the proceedings on the occasion of a deputation received by the engineer-in-chief from the Post Office Engineering Union, on 25th November, 1936; and whether he is in agreement with the replies given to the deputation, especially in regard to the value of pension privileges and regular overtime?
§ Major TryonI have seen the report referred to. The statements made to the deputation in regard to the financial value of the factors in question were approximately correct. But the representations made by the union are under consideration.
§ Major TryonIf the hon. Member will look at the answer he will see what 564 is our attitude. We are going into this matter with the union to clear it up.
§ Mr. ViantBut is the Postmaster-General in agreement with this reply that regular overtime should be taken into account when assessing pensions?
