HC Deb 25 February 1937 vol 320 c2180
58. Mr. McGhee

asked the Minister of Health whether his attention has been called to the serious pollution of the water supply at Ringway, near Withenshawe, Manchester; and what steps he proposes to take to secure adequate supplies of pure water to the residents of this area?

Sir K. Wood

Yes, Sir. I am communicating with the Manchester Corporation with a view to arrangements being made to provide a pure supply at an early date.

Mr. MacLaren

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that the Manchester Corporation is a little afraid to put this waterway in because the owners of the land have threatened to put up its value if the waterway is put in?

Sir K. Wood

I am not aware of that.
