HC Deb 25 February 1937 vol 320 c2155
3. Mr. Logan

asked the Minister of Labour whether he is aware that North End Liverpool unemployed register at Merton Road, Bootle, Employment Exchange, and, as a result, are never sent either to Bootle or Liverpool employers; and what action does he intend to take to remove this anomaly?

Mr. E. Brown

So far as I am aware it is not the case that the men referred to are never sent either to Bootle or Liverpool employers, and I should be glad to have any particulars which the hon. Member can give me. I therefore add that the Liverpool City Council impose a condition that local residents only should be submitted for employment under the corporation, and arrangements are made for Liverpool men registered at Bootle to be considered for such vacancies.

Mr. Logan

If I send the right hon. Gentleman certain particulars, will he make inquiries, because I have had this complaint made on two occasions?

Mr. Brown

I have said so.
