HC Deb 15 February 1937 vol 320 cc838-9
52. Mr. Creech Jones

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he is aware that Lord Moyne, in his report, recommended the creation of a Betterment Fund for natives of Kenya Colony and the appointment of a statutory committee for the control of this fund; whether this fund has been created; and what are the names of the committee appointed to administer it?

The Secretary of State for the Colonies (Mr. Ormsby-Gore)

Owing to the financial situation in Kenya since 1933 it has not been possible to set up the fund, and therefore the committee to administer it has not been appointed.
