HC Deb 11 February 1937 vol 320 cc572-3
85. Mr. Thorne

asked the Minister of Transport how many miles of main trunk roads have been flooded during the recent heavy rains; and what action his Department propose to take to prevent the flooding of main trunk roads when they take them over?

Mr. Hore-Belisha

It is impracticable to give linear measurements. My Department will consider with the drainage authorities what steps may be necessary to avoid such inconvenience so far as possible on trunk roads.
