HC Deb 11 February 1937 vol 320 c554
15. Mr. Rhys Davies

asked the Minister of Labour the wages promised to adult men trained by his Department when they will be employed by the De Havilland Aircraft Company at their establishment at Lostock, Bolton?

Mr. E. Brown

I am making inquiries regarding this matter, and will communicate with the hon. Member as soon as possible.

Mr. Davies

Has the hon. Gentleman any idea what wages are being promised to these men after they have been trained? Is it the case that they are about 35s. a week?

Mr. Brown

I have told the hon. Member that I will make inquiries; until they are completed I do not propose to say anything more.

Sir John Haslam

Is it not well known that this company pays the standard rate of wages; and is the right hon. Gentleman aware that the people of Bolton are looking forward with pleasure to its coming into their midst?
