HC Deb 21 December 1937 vol 330 cc1774-5
58. Mr. J. Griffiths

asked the Minister of Labour whether he is aware that the Unemployment Assistance Board has reduced the allowance of an applicant at Llanelly from 54s. per week to 44s. per week because, being over 40 years of age, he is not likely to secure work at more than 46s. per week; and whether, as the applicant in question was last employed at 55s. per week, pays 13s. 10d. per week in rent, and so has only 30s. 2d. per week to support his wife and eight children, who are entirely dependent on him, he will take steps to have this case reconsidered?

The Minister of Labour (Mr. Ernest Brown)

I am having inquiries made into the case and will communicate with the hon. Member.
