§ 57. Mr. Turtonasked the Minister of Agriculture whether he can make a statement on the Government's policy towards the poultry industry?
§ Mr. W. S. MorrisonAs I stated in reply to my hon. Friend the Member for Tonbridge (Sir A. Baillie) on 7th December, provisional proposals for the marketing of eggs recently submitted to me by the National Farmers' Union and the National Poultry Council are under consideration, and until that is completed I cannot make a statement.
§ Mr. TurtonIs the Minister aware that this delay is causing great dislocation in the industry, and that, meanwhile, imports from abroad are rising all the time?
§ Mr. MorrisonI cannot agree that there has been delay in this matter. The proposals were submitted only this month, and they are of a very complicated character, and it is far better to examine them carefully than to proceed upon the results of a hasty consideration.
§ Mr. ThorneIs all this trouble due to the Labour Government?
