HC Deb 21 December 1937 vol 330 c1769
65. Mr. Graham White

asked the Under-Secretary of State for India whether soliders proceeding to India have now been relieved of the cost of the items necessary to complete their kit, referred to in his reply to a question on 22nd June, 1937?

The Comptroller of the Household (Captain Waterhouse)

I have been asked to reply. Yes, Sir. The Government of India have applied the principle that a soldier on transfer to India should pay nothing for the first issue of compulsory clothing. I am sending the hon. Member a copy of the orders they have issued on the subject.
