52. Mr. Day

asked the Secretary of State for War the number of male employés under the age of 21 years engaged on explosive work at the Department's establishment at the Royal Arsenal for the 12 months ended to the last convenient date?

Mr. Hore-Belisha

At the end of November last there were approximately 960 such male employés. Included in this number are various employés engaged on such work as the weighing, gauging and packing of completed small arm ammunition.

Mr. Day

Does the Minister consider this work suitable for boys of this age?

Mr. Hore-Belisha

I do not see why it is not suitable. If the hon. Gentleman has any representation to make, I shall be most happy to entertain them.
