HC Deb 16 December 1937 vol 330 c1331
74. Mr. Price

asked the Minister of Agriculture what negotiations are going on between his Department and the representatives of the bacon curers with a view to eliminating uneconomic units in the curing industry; and whether any agreement has been reached?

Mr. Ramsbotham

Consultations with the Pigs and Bacon Marketing Boards with regard to the future organisation of the bacon industry are at present proceeding, but they have not yet reached the stage at which it is possible to make a statement.

Mr. Price

Can the hon. Member tell us when there is likely to be some results from these discussions, and when something may be done to revive the activities of the Pig Marketing Board?

Mr. Ramsbotham

I cannot give an exact date, but I hope it will be very soon.
