HC Deb 27 April 1937 vol 323 c167
5. Mr. Jenkins (for Mr. G. Hall)

asked the President of the Board of Trade when he expects the Report of the Departmental Committee on Compulsory Insurance appointed by him in February, 1936; how many meetings of the full committee have been held; when was the last meeting of the full committee held; and when do they propose to meet again?

Mr. Runciman

The Committee on Compulsory Insurance has held 19 meetings, at 18 of which evidence was taken. The last meeting of the full committee was held on 29th July, 1936. Since then, the different branches of the subject have been under the consideration of sub-committees which have met on numerous occasions and have, I understand, made considerable progress. I am not, however, in a position to say when the committee will report.
