HC Deb 21 April 1937 vol 322 c1731
21. Mr. Watson

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty the number of men who, will be attached to the staff of His Majesty's Ship "Caledonia" at Rosyth who will require housing accommodation; and whether steps have been taken to ensure that such accommodation will be available?

Sir S. Hoare

The number of civilians employed in His Majesty's Ship "Caledonia" will be about 14o in a year's time; but many of these will probably be men already living in the district. Naval personnel will be accommodated in the ship; but, no doubt, some of these will desire houses in the district for their families. As I have already stated, the Admiralty cannot undertake to provide housing accommodation for its employés. The local authority has, however, been informed of probable requirements of the staff of His Majesty's Ship "Caledonia."
