HC Deb 21 April 1937 vol 322 cc1728-9
8. Mr. A. Henderson

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he is now able to make a statement on the position of Belgium in relation to her provisional Locarno obligations of 19th March, 1936?

Mr. Eden

This question is now under discussion with the Belgian Government, and I hope to make a statement at a very early date.

Mr. Henderson

Does the right hon. Gentleman expect to be able to make a statement before he leaves for Belgium this week-end?

Mr. Eden

Yes, Sir; I undertake to make a statement to the House before I go to Belgium, but how complete it will be must depend on the negotiations of the next few days.

Mr. Thorne

How many nations entered into the Locarno obligations?

Mr. Speaker

That hardly arises on this question.
