Resolved, That—

  1. (a) as from the twenty-first day of April, nineteen hundred and thirty-seven, with a view to the fulfilment of the Agreement made on the twenty-third day of February, nineteen hundred and thirty-seven, between His Majesty's Government in the United Kingdom and His Majesty's Government in the Dominion of Canada, the preferential rate of any new duty of customs chargeable under Section nine of the Finance Act, 1933, on any article to which this Resolution applies shall not exceed whichever of the two following rates is the higher, that is to say, twenty-eight and eight-ninths per cent. of the value of the article or eight shillings per pound weight;
  2. (b) the articles to which this Resolution applies are stockings and socks made wholly of silk, or containing silk components the value whereof exceeds twenty per cent. of the aggregate of the values of all the components thereof, and being Empire products within the meaning of Sub-section (1) of Section eight of the Finance Act, 1919, as amended by any subsequent enactment.
And it is hereby declared that it is expedient in the public interest that this Resolution shall have statutory effect under the provisions of the Provisional Collection of Taxes Act, 1913.
