Mr. Shinwellasked the President of the Board of Trade whether he is aware that in certain parts of the county of Durham, in particular the South-east area, no facilities are provided for the production and distribution of gas; and whether he will consider the possibility of a gas grid in the district?
§ Mr. RuncimanThe corporations of Stockton-on-Tees and Darlington, and the Hartlepool Gas and Water Company are authorised to supply gas in the South-east area of Durham. I am not aware that these undertakings have difficulty in meeting demands for gas, but I will, of course, consider any representations they wish to make to me.
