HC Deb 06 April 1937 vol 322 cc32-3
64. Mr. Kelly

asked the Minister of Health whether the arbitrator has given his award in connection with the site of 325 acres which the Leeds Corporation is acquiring from the Middleton Estate and Colliery Company and, if so, what the award was; whether the price made allowance for the risk of subsidence or the precautions that would have to be taken against it should houses be built on one portion; for what purpose this land had been previously used; and what was its net rateable value for purposes of local taxation?

Sir K. Wood

The arbitrator has not yet given his award. The second and third parts of the question do not, therefore, arise. The land is mainly used for agricultural purposes and is accordingly derated, but includes some cottages the rateable value of which is £69.
