HC Deb 29 October 1936 vol 316 c19
34. Mr. MATHERS

asked the Minister of Transport whether he will make a statement of Government policy in relation to the projected Forth Road-Bridge?

36. Mr. GUY

asked the Minister of Transport whether he has now considered the case for the Forth Road-Bridge submitted to him by the local authorities concerned; and whether he is satisfied that the case for the bridge has now been fully established?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the MINISTRY of TRANSPORT (Captain Austin Hudson)

My right hon. Friend proposes at an early date to make a statement upon this and certain other bridge schemes.

Mr. MATHERS

May I ask the hon. and gallant Gentleman where his Chief is, why he did pot carry out his promise to meet the local authorities on this matter before the end of September and is he aware that the long continued delay by the Government in dealing with this matter is looked upon as an indication of their wishing to evade the matter altogether?

Captain HUDSON

My right hon. Friend hopes to make a statement very early in the new Session—probably next week.

Mr. MACQUISTEN

Will he consider the Connell Bridge in Argyll, which is badly needed?
